LAPIZ LAZULI is sourced from one of the oldest mines in the world, near 4000 B.C., which is still in use today in Egypt. In ancient times Lapis Lazuli was most highly regarded because of its beautiful ultramarine color and the valuable dye derived from it. Its name comes from the Latin lapis, "stone," and the Persian lazhuward, "blue." It is a universal symbol of wisdom and truth.

ONYX is a black crystal formed from gas pockets in lava. When lava is open, it reveals the crystal, onyx. Then it is removed for polishing and/or carving. There are deposits of onyx all over the world, India, Madagascar, California, Arizona. But the primary source is Mexico and Brazil.

SMOKY QUARTZ is free silicon formed from the silicon dioxide by natural irradiation. The color may vary from brown to smoky black.
